Your Calculations Are No Longer Key

Not long ago a friend called and told me he was broke. At first I wasn't mad at him, he was working his rear end off just to put food on the table, but when he told me his situation, I had to toughen up. Being the logical human being that I am, Ioglop then I started to do a little math. Just a little.

My first three months, I wasn't making any money. At least not enough to make a down payment on a new house or car. So I loosened up my calculations, took free consults, read books and downloaded systems. I tried to keep emotions out of the mix but it was difficult to be rational while playing. Round after round I would lose more money than I won. At first I thought, well, round numbers, 6 outs before a nine, 3 outs before a seven and 2 outs before an eight.

Your Calculations Are No Longer Key

After thinking about it, I realized there are 52 cards in a deck and there are 48 numbers in a deck. (go figure what they mean?) There are about 26 million possible combinations. (Or, about 26 million different ways to draw those middle two cards.) Of those 26 million combinations, only 2% will make you a winner. Only 2% of 26 million combinations will make you a winner. You have less than 2% a 85% chance of winning. A 85% chance of losing means the casino has less than a 1% advantage over the player.

As you can see a craps game is like playing the lottery. Some people have no chance of winning while others have the absolute equivalent. (less than 1% chance) So the only way to make a profit is to play numbers that have a better chance of winning than losing.

There are more than 12.7 million combinations from a deck of cards. (Another limitation on combinations is the repeated word. An example is the word "ace". Your chance of drawing ace three times in row is 1/3. Some people take one and let the next two be any two cards while they try to beat the house. These people usually lose. The odds say you will lose about 13% of the time. These are worse odds than the regular lottery so even if you won 4 out of 4 times for $40, you would still lose $10 which is a round trip to Las Vegas.)

While you are working on perfecting your play, the play must improve. You are not out to break the bank. (Well, you never said it was going to be easy!) We are after round the house advantage. Playing with a clear head and using a solid strategy, you will beat the house more often than not. It is not enough to hope for such an outcome, the only way you can accomplish anything like that is to anticipation.
